Connecting to WiFi

Connecting Your Chromebook to the School Wi-Fi
 
At the login screen, open the network setting in the lower right-hand corner of your Chromebook screen.
  • From the list of Wi-Fi available, choose LAUSD (DO NOT CHOOSE LAUSD-Guest or LAUSD-IOT).
  • In the settings window:
    • Change the EAP method to PEAP
    • Under EAP Phase 2 Authentication, select MSCHAPv2
    • Change Server CA Certificate to Do Not Check
    • In the Identity field, enter your full @mymail.lausd.net email address
    • In the Password field, enter your email password Click Connect
 
Connecting Windows or MacOS Device to the School Wi-Fi
 
  • Open your network settings.
  • From the list of WiFi available, choose LAUSD (DO NOT CHOOSE LAUSD-Guest or LAUSD-IOT).
  • For Username, enter your full mymail.lausd.net email address
  • For Password, enter your email password.
  • Click Connect
 

Care and Use of Your Chromebook

Students are responsible for the general care of the Chromebook they have been issued by the school. 
 
General Precautions
  • Keep food, drinks, water away from the computer
  • When unplugging the charger, grab and pull the plug, not the cable
  • Do not pick at, write on, or remove any of the labels
  • Do not leave the Chromebook  unsupervised area
 
Chromebooks Left in Unsupervised Areas
  • Chromebooks should never be left in an unsupervised area
  • Unsupervised areas include the school grounds,  cafeteria,  library, unlocked classrooms, and restrooms.
  • Any Chromebook left in these areas is in danger of being damaged or stolen.
  • If an unsupervised Chromebook is found, notify a staff member immediately.

Carrying the Chromebook
  • Never pick up your Chromebook by grabbing the top of the screen
  • Always close your Chromebook before you move it
 
Screen Care
  • Never pick up your Chromebook by grabbing the top of the screen
  • Do not place items on the keyboard before closing the lid (e.g. pens, pencils, or earbuds, Headphones).
  • Clean the screen with a soft, dry microfiber cloth or anti-static cloth.
 
Charging your Chromebook
  • Students must fully charge their Chromebooks
  • A fully charged Chromebook battery should last for an entire day of regular use at school
